So six months ago i had submitted an entry for the Amsterdam Half Marathon, intending to train up and finally crack the 1:30 barrier. As it turned out though, i've been running twice in the last six months, and my feet and knees were rather sore from walking 190 miles over the preceeding weeks. So entering myself in the fastest available start group suddenly seemed a bit daunting. Nevertheless, i dragged myself around in a reasonable 1:42, although i don't think you could get an easier event, zero gradients and perfect overcast weather. Hey ho, the run was only really an excuse to go to amsterdam and.... see the canals.
Observations: City of a million bicycles, but no helmets.
Confusingly large number of Uruguayan steak restaurants.
Comprehensive public transport but run by two different operators with two different payment systems!!!
Now at home for the next 4 weeks before the ski season. Feet up!
